Privacy Notice
Last updated: July 23, 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Notice describes how Description LLC ("we", "us", or "our") collects and uses personal data when you use the Description Modifier website and Chrome extension (the "Service"). Description LLC is the data controller for the personal data described here.
Contact: contact@descriptionmodifier.com.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data — your email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in.
- Usage telemetry — number of bulk runs, plan and license status, error reports, and aggregated product analytics.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security and abuse prevention.
- Support messages — anything you send to us when you contact support.
- Cookies — strictly necessary cookies for login sessions and a small amount of analytics (see "Cookies" below).
The Chrome extension communicates directly with Google's YouTube Data API using a token stored on your device. We do not receive, store, or process the contents of your YouTube videos or descriptions on our servers.
2a. Google API Services User Data Policy
Description Modifier's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, data obtained from the YouTube Data API (your channel's video titles, descriptions, and metadata) is used only to provide the user-facing bulk-edit features of the Service. We do not transfer this data to third parties except as needed to provide or improve user-facing features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to users. We do not use this data to serve ads, and we do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your affirmative consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or it is required by law.
3. How we use your data and our legal basis
- To provide the Service (account creation, license checks, support) — performance of a contract.
- To keep the Service secure (fraud, abuse, rate limiting) — legitimate interests.
- To improve the Service (aggregate analytics, error monitoring) — legitimate interests.
- To handle payments and tax compliance — performance of a contract and legal obligation, via our Merchant of Record (see below).
- Marketing emails — only if you opt in; you can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Sharing
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:
- Payment processing / Merchant of Record — Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle") handles payments, subscription management, billing, tax, and invoicing on our behalf.
- Infrastructure providers — hosting, database, authentication, and email delivery providers acting as our processors.
- Analytics & error monitoring — used in aggregated form to improve the Service.
- Professional advisers — accountants and lawyers where necessary.
- Authorities — where required by law.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers are located outside your country. Where personal data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or applicable adequacy decisions.
6. Data retention
We keep account and billing data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Telemetry and logs are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@descriptionmodifier.com and we will respond within one month.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege service accounts — to protect personal data.
9. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and a small amount of analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
